Say Goodbye to Those Fine Lines

For many of us, fine lines and facial wrinkles are a normal and natural part of life. While some types of lines and wrinkles are caused by issues like sun damage or weather exposure, others are caused by the repeated use of your facial muscles. These wrinkles—known specifically as “dynamic wrinkles”—are effectively addressed by BOTOX cosmetic, a trusted and highly effective injectable treatment that we’re excited to offer our patients here at Hayes Valley Medical Esthetics. BOTOX is just one of a number of non-surgical treatments we’re excited to offer our patients, and we’ll be delighted to learn more about how we can help you reach your personal cosmetic goals. If you’d like to get started with BOTOX in San Francisco, simply reach out and set up your consultation with a helpful member of our team today.

What Is BOTOX?

FDA-Approved

BOTOX Cosmetic is the first FDA-approved treatment for temporarily reducing the presence of moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults. BOTOX injections contain botulinum toxin, a neurotoxin that relaxes muscles to smooth out lines and wrinkles. By essentially pressing the “pause button” on specific facial muscles, BOTOX prevents their movement from causing further dynamic wrinkles. It also works to smooth over any lines and wrinkles that may have already formed.

Exceptional Precision

At HVME, our master injectors are extensively trained and bring years of experience to each and every procedure. This means that you can look forward to a treatment delivered with an exceptional level of precision, as our injectors are adept at carefully placing BOTOX in a way that rejuvenates your appearance without limiting your ability to form normal expressions or otherwise notably changing your appearance.

Creating Your Customized Treatment Plan

As with most of our treatments, your BOTOX treatment session can be combined with a number of additional treatment modalities we offer. Filler injections or laser treatments, for example, can help you by creating truly comprehensive results.

During your initial consultation, we’ll be sure to introduce you to the various treatment options we offer so we can collaborate with you on the development of a bespoke treatment plan that is customized directly around your personal cosmetic goals.

The Day of Your BOTOX Treatment

BOTOX Cosmetic is often referred to as a “lunchbreak” treatment, as you’ll be done and ready to return to your normal day in less than an hour. As we begin your session, we may use a cold pack or anesthetic cream to ensure that your experience is as comfortable as possible. A tiny needle will then be used to inject the BOTOX into the muscles that are causing your fine lines and wrinkles. The actual injection process takes about ten minutes, but your appointment may last for up to 45 minutes if you opt for a numbing cream.

After Your BOTOX Session Rest, Recovery, and Results

You won’t have any downtime or recovery period after your BOTOX injections. You’ll be able to return to your normal activities as soon as you feel comfortable doing so, though we’ll recommend that you avoid rubbing the injection site(s), as this can cause the product to migrate to other areas of your face, causing temporary facial weakness or drooping.

You may experience some slight bruising at the injection sites, but this will subside quickly and you’ll start to notice your results within a few days. Most patients notice their full results after about one week, and BOTOX results typically last for between three and five months. We’ll be happy to work with you to set up a treatment schedule so you can maintain your exciting results for as long as possible.

BOTOX Frequently Asked Questions

What is MicroTox®

MicroTox is a cosmetic treatment technique that uses a diluted form of BOTOX injected in tiny amounts just beneath the surface of the skin for instant tightening and lifting effects. It’s often referred to as “baby BOTOX” due to the lower concentration used compared to traditional BOTOX injections.

What is TheraTox™?

TheraTox is a unique injection technique that uses small amounts of BOTOX to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and provide aesthetic enhancements like jaw and neck slimming.

What is NasalTox®?

NasalTox, also known as “nose-tox,” is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses BOTOX to alter the shape of the nose. It can narrow the bridge of the nose, lift the tip of the nose, reduce the appearance of a bulbous nose, smooth bunny lines, and decrease the presence of a nasal flare.

When will I see my results?

You will begin to notice results within 24 to 72 hours, with results lasting up to four months.

Will BOTOX Cosmetic make me look like I’ve had “work” done?

BOTOX Cosmetic is a technique-sensitive treatment. Our expert injectors will ensure that you don’t lose the ability to make your normal facial expressions. It is important for us to discuss the results you’re hoping to see from this treatment with your provider during your initial consultation.

Does BOTOX Cosmetic treatment hurt?

Some patients report that being injected with BOTOX Cosmetic feels like a pinch. We may use ice to numb the treatment area. If you are concerned about discomfort, we may apply a topical numbing cream before administering your injections.

How long does the treatment take?

We will discuss your treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate number of units for the areas we are treating. The actual injection process takes about ten minutes.

How many injections will I receive?

For the crow’s feet area, three areas of the muscle that frames the side of the eye (orbicularis oculi) will be injected. This will be repeated on the orbicularis oculi muscle on the side of the other eye.

For the frown lines area, there are five injections into muscles in your forehead: one in the procerus muscle and four in the corrugator muscles.

How long is the recovery time after treatment?

After your treatment, you can resume your day. There is minimal downtime and we will give you specific aftercare instructions.

Do men receive BOTOX Cosmetic treatment?

Yes. BOTOX Cosmetic has also been clinically evaluated in male patients. In clinical studies for moderate to severe frown lines, 17.5% of patients treated with BOTOX Cosmetic were men. In the clinical studies for moderate to severe crow’s feet, male patients comprised approximately 12% of patients treated with BOTOX Cosmetic.

How can I save on treatments?

Enroll in the Allē rewards program to save money on BOTOX Cosmetic treatments. You earn points on each BOTOX Cosmetic treatment that you can redeem for savings on future treatments. You can also earn and redeem points on other selected treatments that your doctor may determine are right for you.
